WHAT IS PIANO TUNING BY EAR? Ear (aural) piano tuning (as opposed to electronic or strobe tuning) is like comparing PICASSO to PAINT BY NUMBER. Ear tuning (using a tuning hammer and my ear)allows me to use interpretation to blend harmonies and give your piano "SOUL." I can make adjustments for ceiling heigh, hardwood floors vs carpet, and what is pleasing to my ear. I am not locked into an electronic meter. The piano is an IMPERFECT instrument and should not be tuned with a "perfect" electronic tuning device.
It will sound cold, and lifeless. Tuning a piano by ear, with a qualified and experienced ear tuner like myself, is like "wringing out an orange"...bringing out all the best your piano is capable of offering to you, the piano player.
